CHRISTOPHER DANIELS FROM BUCKLEY JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN NORTH WALES

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Buckley, Christopher James Daniels, aged 42, has been sentenced to six months in prison after admitting to possessing indecent images of children. The court proceedings took place at Mold Crown Court, where Daniels, a resident of Alyn Road in Buckley, faced serious charges related to the exploitation of minors through digital media.

Judge Niclas Parry addressed the court, emphasizing that although Daniels was given a chance with a suspended sentence, his repeated failure to cooperate with probation services rendered that option unviable. The judge pointed out that Daniels had not engaged with the community order previously imposed following a separate offence of outraging public decency, and his lack of cooperation demonstrated a disregard for the court's efforts to rehabilitate him.

Daniels pleaded guilty to a total of eight charges, which included possession and creation of indecent images and videos. These offences were committed between December 2014 and April 2015, during which he downloaded illicit material from the internet. The court heard that police investigations were initiated after intelligence was received, leading to a search warrant executed in March 2015. During the search, authorities discovered 36 still images and seven videos, three of which were classified as the most serious Category A. These images depicted children as young as five being subjected to abuse.

The court was informed that Daniels refused to view the images during police interviews, claiming he did not remember seeing them previously and citing memory lapses. The severity of the material was underscored by the fact that some of the images involved very young children, highlighting the gravity of the offences.

In addition to his prison sentence, Daniels was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for a period of ten years. Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed, restricting his activities and contact to prevent further harm. The judge noted that the starting point for sentencing was nine months, but Daniels received credit for his guilty pleas, which somewhat mitigated his sentence.

It was also revealed that Daniels had a prior conviction from November of the previous year for outraging public decency. This incident involved him standing naked in the ground floor window of his home, an act that shocked and embarrassed local schoolgirls and was witnessed by an adult female. Despite denying the charge, Daniels was convicted and placed on a 12-month community order with a focus on rehabilitation.

Overall, the case underscores the ongoing concerns about child exploitation and the importance of strict legal measures to protect vulnerable minors.
