CHRIS RUFFORD FROM NORTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR VOYEURISM AT MC DONALDS IN WESTON FAVELL
In a recent case that has drawn significant attention in Northampton, a man identified as Chris Rufford has been handed a two-year prison sentence after being found guilty of voyeurism.The incident took place at a McDonald's restaurant located in Weston Favell, Northampton, where Rufford was caught spying on a woman inside the restroom.
Rufford, aged 36 and residing at Lower Meadow Court, Thorplands, Northampton, was brought before Northampton Crown Court last Friday, January 12.
His sentencing came shortly after he was released from prison, where he had served time for a similar offence, raising concerns about his ongoing risk to the public.
He was released on licence in October of the previous year, but his freedom was short-lived.
Just five weeks after his release, authorities arrested him on suspicion of voyeurism.
The arrest followed an incident where Rufford was caught hiding in a woman’s toilet at the McDonald's in Weston Favell, Northampton.
This act of voyeurism was part of a series of allegations against him.
Following his arrest, Rufford faced multiple charges, including three counts of voyeurism and three counts of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
The court proceedings revealed the seriousness of his actions and the breach of legal restrictions designed to prevent further offences.
As part of the sentencing, it was also announced that upon his release, Rufford would be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
This order aims to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community from potential harm in the future.
