CHARLIE LUXON SENTENCED IN CAMBORNE: SEX OFFENDER FROM TRURO RECEIVES SUSPENDED PRISON TERM

In September 2019, Charlie Richard Luxon, a 46-year-old sex offender with no fixed address, appeared before magistrates in Truro to face charges related to his failure to comply with legal notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The court proceedings revealed that Luxon had neglected to update his address details within the legally mandated timeframes, specifically on September 4 and 5, in Camborne, despite being aware of his obligations.

Luxon’s failure to notify authorities of his whereabouts was deemed a serious breach of the law, especially considering his previous convictions. The magistrates found that he had no reasonable excuse for his non-compliance, which led to a custodial sentence. However, given his history and the circumstances, the court decided to suspend the prison term, sentencing him to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. This means that Luxon will not serve time unless he commits another offence within the suspension period.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Luxon was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 and costs amounting to £85.
