SEX OFFENDER CHARLES LEE JAILED FOR ONLINE CHILD ABUSE
Charles Lee, also known as Edward Taylor, a registered sex offender, admitted to violating his registration obligations by sending a sexual image and engaging in sexual conversations both at his residence in Ayr and elsewhere.
He also confessed to not informing authorities about his online username and bank account between April 20 and May 1, while subject to sex offender notification conditions.
Police arrested him after discovering a concealed mobile phone, a bank account, and an unregistered eBay account.
Lee had previously acknowledged sending messages to someone he believed was a minor, which included images of his genitals, and attempting to initiate sexual communication.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, a reduction from 22 months due to his early guilty plea, and will serve an 18-month license period with a requirement to remain on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
The court postponed the sentencing to allow for social work reports.
