Ho, 58, was caught with thousands of indecent images of children after police attended at the home he shared with his wife.

He was jailed for 12 months earlier this week after pleading guilty to four counts of possession of indecent images and a count of possession of extreme pornography.

Leeds Crown Court heard on Wednesday how a number of devices were seized when police went to his home in June last year.

Prosecutor Heather Gimore said: "He said he had downloaded indecent images of children while he had been in Hong Kong and they had been deleted.

The devices were submitted for examination.

The defendant left the country to go back to China to see his father, who was ill.

That meant he wasn't interviewed until September 2024." The court heard Ho had 1,231 category A images, 1,762 category B images, 180,015 category C images, 69, prohibited images of children and one image of extreme pornography.

It was said some of the images showed toddlers, and others showed children being tied up.

Mitigating, Robert Stevenson told the court Ho came to the UK from Hong Kong in 2022 with his wife, and did a lot of voluntary work between then and the police going to his home.

He said he wants to return to China after serving his sentence and added: "He is remorseful and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity." Ho was told he will be released from custody halfway through his sentence and will be subject to notification requirements and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the next ten years.
