CARSON GRIMES, LUTON'S MOST PROLIFIC SEX OFFENDER, STRIKES AGAIN AFTER 13 NEW VICTIMS EMERGE

A notorious child sex offender from Luton, Carson Grimes, has once again come under the spotlight after a series of new allegations surfaced, revealing that he has committed additional heinous crimes. The 69-year-old, who resides on Dumfries Street in Luton, has admitted to committing 24 further offences, including acts of rape and indecent assault, following recent media coverage of his case.

Grimes’s criminal history is extensive. In 2021, he was convicted of 36 serious sexual offences involving nine victims and was subsequently sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison. His previous convictions and the severity of his crimes have made him one of the most infamous sex offenders in Bedfordshire. The recent revelations have only added to the gravity of his criminal record.

The recent wave of allegations was triggered by media reports, notably an episode of the Channel 4 documentary series '24 Hours in Police Custody.' These reports prompted additional victims to come forward and make their accusations known to authorities. Detectives from Bedfordshire Police have confirmed that the new allegations involve victims who were sexually abused by Grimes between 1987 and 2001. Some of these victims, police say, were boys at the time of the abuse.

Detective Inspector Clare Gilbert of Bedfordshire Police described Grimes as a “horrific predator,” emphasizing that he targeted young and vulnerable children for his own sexual gratification. She stated, “He had an elevated sense of self-worth where he believed he could prey on vulnerable children and get away with it.” Her comments underscore the predatory nature of Grimes’s actions and his apparent belief that he was untouchable.

During his 2021 trial, evidence revealed that Grimes’s abusive behavior began in the 1980s when he was living in London. His misconduct escalated after he moved to Bedfordshire, continuing until approximately 2002. The court heard that he had inflicted harm on children over a span of more than a decade. Jurors found him guilty of 19 counts of rape, 11 counts of indecent assault, and six counts of indecency with a child.

On Thursday, Grimes pleaded guilty to the 24 new charges at Luton Crown Court. The victims, some of whom police have identified as boys, accused him of sexual abuse that took place over a period from 1987 to 2001. The police have also revealed that Grimes, who is also known by the alias Carson Phillips, is considered one of “Bedfordshire’s most prolific sex offenders.”

One particularly disturbing detail is that one of his victims described his home as a “horror house,” highlighting the terrifying environment in which the abuse occurred. Grimes’s sentencing is scheduled for 23 May, and authorities have indicated that his continued offending over the years underscores the danger he poses. The police and victims’ advocates hope that this new conviction will bring some measure of justice and closure for those affected by his crimes.
