CARL JAKUBOWSKI FROM ECCLES SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN MANCHESTER FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE
In June 2003, Carl Jakubowski, a 35-year-old married factory worker from Eccles, was jailed for six years after admitting to a series of child sexual offenses. He had subjected an 11-year-old girl to multiple acts of abuse in exchange for gifts such as pens and tights. Jakubowski once bought the girl a CD player, telling her, "You owe me one," before forcing her to perform a sex act.The police became aware of his crimes when the girl, overwhelmed and in tears, collapsed at school. Subsequently, Jakubowski contacted her and pressured her to retract her allegations, warning that she could go to prison if she told the truth.
At Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court, Jakubowski, formerly residing on Athol Street, Eccles, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of indecent assault, indecency with a child, and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Prosecutor June Morris detailed that the assaults took place in various locations, including near a school and close to a Tesco store. She stated, "He asked for her to perform for items for school, including tights or pens."
Miss Morris explained that the victim told Jakubowski she wanted a Christmas gift—a CD player—which he bought her, then coerced her into performing another sex act.
The police investigation concluded after the girl confided in school staff about her abuse.
During proceedings, defense lawyer Mark Savill expressed remorse, saying, "Jakubowski despises himself for what he has done. He has seen a psychiatrist and wishes to receive help."
Judge John Burke QC addressed the defendant, stating, "You used your victim as a toy to gratify your perverted instincts. These experiences will stay with her for the rest of her life."
