WORCESTER WOMAN CARA DRUMMOND BITES BABY IN EVICTED RAGE AT CRYING INFANT

In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Worcester, Cara Drummond, aged 22, was brought before Worcester Crown Court to face charges stemming from a violent attack on a young child. The incident occurred in May of the previous year, when Drummond was at a residence in Evesham, Worcestershire, and her frustration over a crying baby escalated into a brutal act of violence.

According to court reports, Drummond, overwhelmed by the infant's persistent crying, lost her temper and resorted to biting the child's face. The attack left a visible bite mark on the baby's left cheek, accompanied by bruising, which prompted immediate concern from the child's nursery. The nursery staff noticed the injury and promptly alerted the police, initiating an investigation into the incident.

Prosecutor John Brotherton detailed the events, stating, "The nursery raised concerns regarding the bite mark, and law enforcement was informed. On May 22, police arrived at Drummond's residence after receiving new information. During questioning, she broke down and confessed to having bitten the child."

It was revealed that Drummond was frustrated because the baby would not cease crying, which led her to commit this regrettable act. The court heard that her actions were driven by a moment of intense emotion, and she attempted to shift blame onto another child present at the scene, claiming that the bite was not her doing.

Judge Nicolas Cartwright presided over the case and addressed Drummond directly, emphasizing the seriousness of her actions. He noted that she had a history of violent behavior, including 22 previous convictions, which encompassed assaults and dishonesty. The court also learned that just a week prior to this incident, Drummond had received a suspended sentence for a separate assault in September 2017, where she had attacked a woman in a takeaway in Bridge Street, Evesham. During that assault, she had grabbed the victim by her hair and forcefully slammed her head into a counter, resulting in facial injuries.

In the current case, Drummond pleaded guilty to assault, and her emotional response was evident as she wept in court. She was subsequently sentenced to 14 months in prison. Judge Cartwright remarked, "You would have been sent to prison for the takeaway attack, but you received a suspended sentence. The judge warned you that if you offended again, you could face a three-month jail sentence."

Throughout the proceedings, Drummond appeared visibly distressed, crying as she was led away to serve her sentence. The case has raised concerns about her history of violence and the circumstances that led to her violent outburst against an innocent infant in Worcester.
