DARLINGTON MOTHER ATTACKS CAMERON MCIVOR, RAPE SUSPECT, WITH RAZOR BLADE

In a dramatic and emotionally charged incident, a mother from Darlington took justice into her own hands after discovering that Cameron McIvor, a man she knew and had befriended, was a convicted sex offender. McIvor, who was 65 years old at the time, had been accused of heinous crimes including the rape of the woman's two daughters, as well as indecent assault on another young girl. Although he denied these allegations during the trial, the court found him guilty after the two sisters testified and underwent cross-examination in Teesside Crown Court.

Following his conviction, McIvor was released on bail last year while awaiting pre-sentence reports. During this period, the mother, a single parent, learned that McIvor was residing just 14 miles from her home in Darlington, Co Durham. The revelation appeared to ignite a fierce sense of outrage and a desire for immediate justice.

According to police reports, the mother later confided to officers, stating, "I didn’t want to kill him, just castrate him so he couldn’t do it again." Her words reflected her intense anger and desire to prevent McIvor from harming anyone else.

One day, she decided to confront him directly. She stormed into McIvor’s residence in Darlington, armed with a double-edged razor blade. In the confrontation, she knocked him to the ground by forcing the door open and then proceeded to attack him physically. Although she did not use the razor blade during the assault, she repeatedly kicked and punched McIvor, inflicting injuries before she left and reported her actions to the police.

McIvor was subsequently brought back to court the following week, where he faced sentencing for a series of sex offences, including the rapes of the two young girls. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison, marking the culmination of a case that had deeply shocked the local community in Darlington and raised questions about justice and vigilantism.
