BUDD SIMMONS AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN KINGSTHORPE, NORTHAMPTON
A 24-year-old man has been found guilty of committing a sexual assault against another man inside a private residence in Kingsthorpe, Northampton.This disturbing incident took place on January 16 earlier this year, involving Budd Lee Simmons, who was then residing in Northampton.
According to reports, Simmons was invited to spend the night at a friend’s house in Kingsthorpe after a night out.
He accepted the invitation and was allowed to sleep on the sofa.
Unbeknownst to the other occupants, Simmons took advantage of the situation.
While everyone else in the house had fallen asleep, Simmons entered a bedroom without permission.
Once inside, he engaged in inappropriate conduct by sexually assaulting the man who was sleeping in his bed.
The victim woke up during the assault, overwhelmed and frightened, and immediately recognized Simmons.
Upon realization, Simmons fled the scene, prompting the quick response of local authorities.
Shortly after the incident, police arrived and took Simmons into custody.
He was subsequently charged with sexual assault.
The case was brought before Northampton Crown Court, where Simmons appeared on November 17.
During the proceedings, he pleaded guilty to the charges, leading to a judgment of two years and eight months of incarceration.
The lead investigator, Police Constable Jess Hurst, emphasized the bravery of the victim in this case.
In her statement, she expressed her gratitude towards the victim for coming forward and supporting the legal process.
PC Hurst acknowledged the emotional toll that such incidents can take on victims, especially men, who are often less inclined to report sexual assault.
She highlighted the importance of supporting victims with sensitivity and reassurance.
PC Hurst also reinforced that responsibility for the assault lies solely with the offender, Budd Simmons.
She stated, “Let me be absolutely clear — as with any case of sexual assault, the blame here is on the offender only.
This man could not have done anything differently and he must not blame himself.
Budd Simmons is the only person in this case who should feel responsibility and shame for his actions.” Her comments serve as a reminder that victims of sexual abuse, regardless of gender, should feel safe and supported when coming forward.
The police are committed to taking such reports seriously and ensuring they are handled with the utmost care.
