HAMMAD JAVAID AND LOUISE LANE'S HORRIFIC PUPPY FARM IN AYLESBURY REVEALED

Hammad Javaid, born October 1993, residing at 32 Charmfield Road, Aylesbury HP21 9QB, and Louise Chrystal Lane, born 12 February (date to be confirmed), of Upland Avenue, Chesham HP5 2EA, have been found guilty of operating an illegal puppy farm that resulted in the tragic deaths of several dogs. The pair, a former couple who now use the name Chrystal O’Brien on Facebook, were convicted of multiple animal cruelty charges linked to their unlawful breeding activities at a property located on Bateman Drive in Aylesbury.

Authorities uncovered that the illegal operation involved twenty-four bull-breed dogs and puppies, kept in deplorable conditions. The court heard disturbing details about the living environment, which was described as being 'covered in faeces, urine, and maggots.' The dogs were housed both inside the residence and in kennels situated in the garden. The conditions led to frequent fights among the animals, which in some cases resulted in fatalities. Two dogs died after fights that were left unattended, with one of the deceased animals found in the backyard, having been attacked and left to lie in its own blood, while others were seen consuming the carcass.

Witnesses and court evidence revealed that the dogs were subjected to inhumane treatment, including tail docking of newborn puppies without proper veterinary procedures. The animals' welfare was grossly neglected, and the pair failed to obtain the necessary licenses required for selling dogs legally. Despite repeated warnings from local authorities, Javaid continued to sell puppies without a license from 2012 to 2020. The authorities seized all remaining bulldogs from the property in September 2021, including two pregnant females.

Investigations by the RSPCA uncovered that the dogs had been bred intensively, often subjected to multiple caesarean sections, with some dogs giving birth to two litters within a single year. Court footage showed distressing scenes of animals left alone for extended periods, fighting constantly, and suffering injuries. One video depicted a dog lying dead in the backyard after a fight, with other animals eating its carcass. Another dog succumbed to injuries in a separate altercation, with her body disposed of in a bin bag. Javaid and Lane were caught on camera attempting to separate fighting dogs by swinging their legs at them.

Text messages between the two revealed that they were selling puppies for approximately £5,000 each, with the proceeds allegedly being deposited into a Range Rover, which Lane used to travel to and from the property. Javaid admitted to his involvement, pleading guilty to charges including unlicensed dog breeding, tail docking, causing unnecessary suffering, and failing to ensure animal welfare, as brought by Buckinghamshire Council. Lane initially denied wrongdoing but later pleaded guilty to similar charges, including unlicensed breeding and causing suffering.

The defense argued for suspended sentences, citing the couple’s responsibilities as parents to two young children aged seven and five, and their contributions to society through their businesses. Javaid owns an ironing business called the Ironing Board and a driving school named Revs Driving School. Lane, currently on maternity leave from a catering job, plans to return to work.

Sentencing saw Javaid receive a 20-month prison term, while Lane was handed a six-month suspended sentence, along with 100 hours of community service and 25 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR). Lane was also ordered to pay £500 towards the costs incurred by the council in prosecuting the case. Both individuals are now banned from keeping dogs in the future, reflecting the severity of their crimes and the need to prevent such cruelty from recurring.
