BRUCE STORIE SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE AND ABUSE IN KINROSS AND PERTH

A man named Bruce Storie has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being convicted of heinous crimes involving sexual assault and physical abuse in the regions of Kinross and Perth, Scotland. The conviction stems from a series of disturbing incidents that took place over a span of more than a decade, highlighting a pattern of violent and degrading behavior.

The most egregious of these offenses occurred during the Rewind Scotland music festival held at Scone Palace in Perth in July 2019. During this event, Storie attacked a woman, forcibly engaging in sexual activity with her while she was unconscious. The assault was brutal; he forcibly grabbed her, pushed her to the ground, and held her down as he committed the sexual act. The attack was not only physical but also involved aggressive violence, including punches, slaps, and attempts to choke her by grabbing her throat and arms. At one point, Storie brandished a knife, further threatening her safety and adding a layer of danger to the assault.

Jurors heard that the victim was subjected to degrading treatment, including being forced to sit naked and endure humiliating remarks about her appearance. The assault at the festival was part of a broader pattern of abuse, as Storie was earlier found guilty of sexually and physically abusing another woman in Kinross. This second victim was subjected to a series of violent and degrading acts, including being spat on, bitten, having a heated metal bar pressed against her hand, and being burned with a lighter. These crimes occurred between June 2008 and March 2020, illustrating a disturbing history of violence spanning over a decade.

Storie’s criminal conduct was thoroughly examined in court, where he faced a total of 16 charges, including drug offenses. The case was heard at the High Court in Glasgow, presided over by Lord Mulholland. During sentencing, the judge acknowledged the severity of Storie’s actions, describing his conduct towards both women as disgraceful. Lord Mulholland considered ordering a full risk assessment that could have resulted in a lifelong restriction order, but ultimately decided on a 12-year prison sentence. The judge also ordered that Storie be placed on the sex offenders register and imposed a lifetime ban preventing him from contacting either of his victims.

In his remarks, Lord Mulholland emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating, “Your conduct towards both of the women was disgraceful.” The court’s decision reflects the serious nature of the offenses and the need to protect the victims from further harm, ensuring that Storie remains under strict supervision for the foreseeable future.
