BRANDON SMITH FROM MANCHESTER SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN HYDE
Brandon Smith, born on 14 February 2000 and residing on Larch Road in Denton, has been convicted of multiple serious criminal charges involving sexual violence. The court proceedings, which culminated in a sentencing at Bolton Crown Court, revealed the extent of his crimes committed in Hyde, Greater Manchester.On the 5th of July, 2024, Smith initiated a brutal assault on a woman who was not previously known to him. According to court records, he forcibly grabbed her and threatened to stab her if she dared to make any noise. The attack took place along a secluded path off King Street and Pitt Street in Hyde, where Smith subjected the woman to a prolonged and invasive sexual assault.
During the trial, it was disclosed that Smith had been surveilling the victim for approximately six months prior to the attack. Following the assault, he issued threats against her family, warning her not to disclose what had happened. These disturbing details underscored the premeditated nature of his actions and his intent to intimidate the victim into silence.
Law enforcement officials acted swiftly after the incident. Smith was arrested on Sunday, 7 July 2024, just two days after the assault. The investigation into his activities and the evidence collected led to his trial at Bolton Crown Court. On Wednesday, 8 January 2025, Smith was found guilty of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of assault by penetration. The court sentenced him to 12 and a half years in prison, with an additional three years on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision after his release.
