BRANDON HUTCHINSON SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENSES IN BLACKPOOL: JUDGES UPHOLD NINE-YEAR TERM
In a recent legal ruling, a man from Blackpool named Brandon Hutchinson has had his nine-year prison sentence for a series of serious sexual offenses upheld by the Court of Appeal.Hutchinson, aged 22 and residing on Warley Road, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court in January after being found guilty of multiple sexual crimes committed against a young girl.
Hutchinson’s criminal history dates back to when he was just nine years old, with allegations of inappropriate behavior surfacing at that early age.
Despite these early accusations, he was later convicted of additional offenses that occurred during his teenage years.
The court heard that Hutchinson was responsible for a disturbing pattern of sexual misconduct, including three counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
During the appeal hearing, Hutchinson’s legal representatives argued that the sentence was excessively harsh and did not reflect the circumstances of his case.
They pointed out that Hutchinson was very young when the initial allegations were made and emphasized his efforts to turn his life around.
The court was informed that, despite his troubled start, Hutchinson had managed to improve academically, had secured employment, and maintained a stable relationship.
However, the three senior judges presiding over the appeal—Judge Deborah Taylor, Lady Justice Rafferty, and Mr.
Justice Cranston—disagreed with the defense’s assessment.
Judge Taylor explicitly stated that the offenses committed by Hutchinson were far from “innocent childish sexual exploitation” and warranted the sentence handed down.
She highlighted that the court had taken into account Hutchinson’s youth at the time of the crimes and had given substantial credit for his age.
Judge Taylor further clarified that the original sentence was appropriate given the gravity of the offenses.
She concluded that the nine-year term was well-deserved and justified, emphasizing that the sentence was neither legally flawed nor excessively severe.
As a result, the appeal was dismissed, and Hutchinson’s punishment remains in effect, serving as a stark reminder of the seriousness with which such crimes are treated in the legal system.
