August 2006 Child sex offender is jailed over drugs A Child-rapist turned to drugs after getting out of prison because he was depressed, a court heard yesterday. Bobby Hendry, 38, was caught dealing cocaine soon after being released on licence from an eight-year jail term for raping and sexually assaulting a young girl in Fraserburgh. He got out of prison on July 27 last year and was offending again within two months. He peddled the class-A drug from his home and in the city’s Bedford Road, while his co-accused, also of Regent Quay, Aberdeen, dealt amphetamines. The pair each pleaded guilty to reduced charges of dealing drugs on a single day, September 17 last year. They had been accused of supplying on or between June 17 and September 17 in that year. The Crown accepted first offender Davidson’s not guilty plea to an allegation that she had cocaine at her home and Hendry’s not guilty plea to a claim that he had cannabis resin at his home. Davidson was earlier put on probation for three years and ordered to carry out 180 hours of community service. Hendry’s case had been remitted to the High Court for consideration. He had been called back to jail to serve the remainder of the sex-crimes sentence as a direct result of the drug-dealing. Last week, it emerged that Lord Carloway had also jailed Hendry for an additional 200 days in connection with the rape case for the time he was “unlawfully at large”. Fiscal depute Mhairi Morrison said police had come across Hendry in a car in Bedford Avenue. Officers were concerned about the way it was being driven and pulled it over. A drugs search was carried out and Hendry and Davidson were taken to police headquarters, where Hendry was seen trying to conceal a package, taken from his mouth, in his jacket sleeve. He later admitted it was cocaine and 10 bags of the drug were then found in his flat. The value of the drugs was between £1,000 and £1,200, Miss Morrison said. Solicitor Tony Burgess said his client had been recalled to prison after allegations were made about him drinking and breaking the peace. He was released when the allegations were discovered to be unfounded. Sheriff Douglas Cusine jailed Hendry for six months.
