BEN QUINTON-TAYLOR AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN CANTERBURY AND GILLINGHAM
A man identified as Ben Quinton-Taylor has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 11 years after being convicted of serious sexual offences committed against a young girl. The sentencing took place at Canterbury Crown Court on 6 October 2023, where Quinton-Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge of assault by penetration. The case against Quinton-Taylor was initiated following a report from a woman who alleged that he had sexually assaulted her during her childhood, specifically between the years 2009 and 2011. The incidents reportedly occurred inside a property located in Gillingham, and the victim was described as being of primary school age at the time of the abuse.
Kent Police launched an investigation into these allegations in September 2019. The inquiry was thorough and extensive, leading to the arrest of Quinton-Taylor in February 2020. After a detailed investigation, authorities formally charged him in June 2022 with the initial offence. The investigation did not stop there; further allegations from two additional victims emerged, leading to Quinton-Taylor facing additional charges.
In addition to the primary charge, Quinton-Taylor, aged 47 and residing on High Street in Canterbury, admitted to criminal damage and two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour. These additional charges were linked to separate incidents involving other victims, highlighting a pattern of abusive conduct.
Following his conviction, Quinton-Taylor was not only sentenced to 11 years in prison but also subjected to several protective measures. He was issued restraining orders that prohibit him from making any contact with all three victims, ensuring their safety and preventing further harm. Moreover, he was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure that mandates ongoing monitoring and registration.
To further prevent any possibility of reoffending, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed. This order is designed to restrict Quinton-Taylor’s activities and prevent him from engaging in any future sexual offences, thereby offering additional safeguards for the community.
This case underscores the importance of persistent investigation and the justice system’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals from sexual predators. The community in Canterbury and Gillingham can find some reassurance in the fact that Quinton-Taylor has been held accountable for his actions and will be closely monitored for the foreseeable future.
