BELAL HUSSAIN FROM WEST BROMWICH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS USING SNAPCHAT
In June 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving Belal Hussain, a 34-year-old man from West Bromwich, who exploited social media to prey on vulnerable teenage girls. Hussain initially made contact with a 15-year-old girl through Snapchat, a popular social media platform, establishing communication that would lead to serious criminal behavior. The court heard that Hussain arranged to meet the girl in his vehicle within West Bromwich, where he engaged in inappropriate and illegal activities. As the investigation progressed, Hussain's actions extended beyond this initial contact. Later that same month, he was observed in the company of another 15-year-old girl. Demonstrating manipulative and coercive behavior, Hussain pressured both young girls into engaging in sexual acts with him. To further manipulate and possibly silence them, he also handed over money, adding a layer of exploitation to his misconduct.
Following these events, the victims, overwhelmed by fear and trauma, reported the incidents to West Midlands Police. The girls expressed their feelings of intimidation and fear of Hussain, revealing that they felt pressured and threatened by his actions. Their testimonies prompted a detailed investigation by the police’s Public Protection Unit, a specialized team tasked with handling such sensitive cases involving minors and sexual offenses.
Law enforcement officers conducted thorough digital forensics, including scrutinizing Hussain’s Snapchat account to establish his identity and connection to the crimes. After three months of investigation, Hussain was arrested. During the subsequent search of his electronic devices, he refused to provide passwords and did not cooperate with police interviews, complicating the investigation but not preventing justice from being served.
Hussain, residing on Jesson Street in West Bromwich, was formally charged with multiple offenses. He ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child. His guilty plea led to his sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court, where he received a prison term of three years and six months. In addition to his incarceration, Hussain will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors. Furthermore, he will be registered on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
