WREXHAM MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING WIFE IN SERIES OF VIOLENT INCIDENTS
A man from Wrexham, Barthomiej Swedroski, aged 36, has been sentenced to 20 weeks in jail for assaulting his wife in a series of violent incidents. The court heard that Swedroski dragged his wife down the stairs before punching her approximately ten times. He admitted to three separate assault offences. Prosecutor Ryan Rothwell detailed that the couple, originally from Poland, had been in a relationship and that Swedroski, after being laid off and drinking heavily, assaulted his partner three times at the Atlea Estate in Broughton, Wrexham. The first incident on November 5 involved hitting her in the face, resulting in a nosebleed and a scratch. The second incident in January saw him push her, hit her head on the floor multiple times, and spit in her face. The third incident on April 10 involved further violence, including grabbing her arms, spitting in her face twice, pulling her down the stairs by her legs, punching her around ten times, pulling her hair, hitting her head, and strangling her. Swedroski tried to blame the victim for provoking him. The judge described his actions as serious, especially noting the influence of alcohol and the degrading act of spitting. Swedroski, who was in custody at HMP Berwyn, was sentenced to 20 weeks for the last assault, with concurrent sentences for the others, plus a court surcharge of £154.
