BARRY WALL FROM ANGLESEY AND HOLYHEAD ARRESTED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND ALLOWED TO WORK WITH KIDS

In a case that has sparked outrage among parents and community members, Barry Wall, a man from Anglesey and Holyhead, was at the center of a serious controversy involving allegations of possessing indecent images of children. The incident dates back to March 14, 2016, when Wall was arrested on suspicion of downloading and possessing these disturbing images. Despite his arrest and ongoing investigation, Wall continued to conduct dance and acting classes in Holyhead, raising questions about the adequacy of supervision and safeguarding measures during his bail period.

Wall, aged 36 at the time, claimed that the indecent images were stored on his laptop, which he had purchased second-hand. This explanation was presented during his court proceedings, but ultimately, he pleaded guilty to the charges at Holyhead Magistrates’ Court in May of the same year. The community's concern deepened as details of his activities emerged, revealing that he was actively involved in working with children even after being under investigation for such serious crimes.

Paul Garden, a foster parent from Holyhead, expressed his outrage and concern over the situation. He stated, “We’re worried because my foster children and granddaughter have drama lessons with this guy. I think it’s very worrying, I’m really annoyed.” Garden further explained that the children, who participated in Wall’s classes, were scheduled to perform in a show that Wall later canceled, citing that they were not ready. However, Garden suggested that there might be a different reason behind the cancellation, implying that it could be related to the ongoing investigation.

Another parent, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their dismay at Wall’s continued involvement with children. They revealed that Wall was running a drama group called ‘Show on’ in Holyhead for young children up until his conviction, even after he had pleaded guilty. The parent recounted being contacted by Wall on June 20 to organize a disco for the children’s after-show party, which Wall only canceled last week, adding to the community’s concerns about the safety and oversight of activities involving minors.

In response to these concerns, Detective Inspector Sion Williams, who leads the paedophile and online investigation team, defended the police force’s handling of the case during Wall’s bail period. He explained, “After Mr Wall was charged, he was placed on stringent police bail conditions prior to his first appearance at Holyhead Magistrates’ Court. These bail conditions were clearly aimed at restricting any unsupervised access with children.” Inspector Williams emphasized that North Wales Police did not have any intelligence suggesting Wall was continuing to interact with children inappropriately during his bail, and if they had, appropriate action would have been taken. He also noted that following Wall’s conviction, he would be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, designed to prevent any future unsupervised contact with minors.

Wall, in an interview with the Daily Post last week, claimed that he was “pressured” into pleading guilty by his solicitor, a statement that the legal team has strongly denied. He also revealed plans to relocate to Liverpool following his conviction, which has added another layer of concern among local residents and authorities about the potential risks posed by individuals with such criminal backgrounds moving into new communities.
