DONCASTER RAPIST BARISCAG SALIH SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK NEAR DONCASTER ROYAL INFIRMARY
In a case that has shocked the local community, Bariscag Salih, a 26-year-old man from Doncaster, was sentenced to a substantial prison term following a violent and disturbing assault on an 18-year-old woman.The incident took place in the early hours of August 1, 2021, near the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, a well-known landmark in the town.
According to court records, the victim was walking along Armthorpe Road, a busy thoroughfare in Doncaster, when she was approached by an unknown man.
The individual, later identified as Salih through police investigations, initially asked her if she was okay.
The young woman, feeling uncomfortable, asked to be left alone and continued her journey.
However, Salih persisted in following her, which prompted her to attempt to escape.
Despite her efforts to run away, Salih managed to catch her, grabbing her forcefully and pulling her down onto a grass verge nearby.
The assault was violent and sexually aggressive, leaving the victim traumatized.
The disturbance was loud enough to wake a resident living nearby, who then came out of her house to investigate.
Demonstrating courage and concern, the resident intervened, which caused Salih to flee the scene before authorities arrived.
Following a thorough investigation that included extensive CCTV footage analysis and forensic work, police identified Salih as the suspect.
He was arrested on August 5, 2021, and subsequently charged with attempted rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
Salih has been held in custody since his arrest, and he pleaded guilty to all charges during a hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on December 10, 2021.
On February 16, 2022, the court handed down a sentence of seven years and six months in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, Salih was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts him from any contact with the victim or engaging in similar conduct in the future.
Furthermore, a restraining order was issued to prevent any form of communication or contact with the young woman, ensuring her safety and peace of mind moving forward.
