BRADFORD CHILD RAPIST BALKAR SINGH SENTENCED FOR OVER 11 YEARS IN PRISON
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Bradford, Balkar Singh, aged 39, has been sentenced to more than eleven years behind bars for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl.The court heard that Singh subjected the victim to a prolonged campaign of systematic rape over a span of nearly three years, a period marked by repeated abuse and exploitation.
Prosecutor Louise Reevell detailed to Bradford Crown Court that Singh had pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and two counts of attempted rape prior to the sentencing.
The offences occurred between July 2014 and March of the current year, with Singh’s arrest following a police report filed on March 15.
The court was told that Singh would attempt to force himself upon the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and would resort to violence, including hitting and threatening her, if she resisted or refused to engage in sexual acts.
During the proceedings, Singh’s defense attorney, Kitty Colley, of Ayresome Oval, Allerton, Bradford, expressed her client’s remorse.
She emphasized that Singh’s guilty pleas demonstrated an understanding of his wrongdoing and could serve as a pivotal step toward his rehabilitation.
Colley stated, “The defendant comes from a community where his standing and reputation are now shattered.
When he is released, he will have to start anew.” Judge Jonathan Rose delivered a stern judgment, condemning Singh’s actions as “vile abuse” of the young girl.
The judge remarked, “She would cry, although her pain and tears never caused you to stop.
You used threats to enable you to continue offending against this child.
These offences were committed for your self-gratification because you told yourself this is what I need to do, so this is what I will do.” He further condemned Singh’s lack of remorse, stating, “I utterly reject this as an explanation or justification of your actions.
This abuse only ended because you were caught and arrested, not because you made a conscious decision to stop.
Your vile abuse would have continued unabated, and you offended on many occasions over a protracted period.
The true psychological impact on the victim may not be fully understood for some time.” Addressing the issue of dangerousness, Judge Rose concurred with the probation service’s pre-sentence report, which indicated that Singh appeared to minimize the severity of his offending.
The judge expressed his belief that Singh would have continued offending had the victim not had the courage to report him.
He stated, “You currently fail to acknowledge that you have a deviant sexual interest in children.
The court’s fear that this interest persists significantly contributes to my finding that you pose a danger to the public.” Singh was sentenced to a total of eleven years and eight months in prison.
Additionally, he was given an extended sentence with a five-year license period.
The court also ordered Singh to register as a sex offender for life and imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, ensuring ongoing restrictions and monitoring to protect the community from further harm.
