Man given community order over hundreds of indecent images of children found by police

MAN GIVEN COMMUNITY ORDER OVER HUNDREDS OF INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN FOUND BY POLICE

A man had viewed indecent images of children as young toddlers being abused or attacked by adults, a court heard.

Judge Sally Hancox, who sentenced offender Ashton Coy at Nottingham Crown Court, told him: "It had been going on for seven years." Aged 29, Coy pleaded guilty to possessing images of the most serious kind in category A, then in the less serious categories B and C.

He was also sentenced after he admitted possessing extreme and prohibited images.

The judge ordered he sign the sex offenders' register for seven years and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

He will now start a three-year community order and an accredited programme related to the offences.

A costs order was made for £500.

Prosecutor Caroline Bradley said the National Crime Agency acted on information about uploaded images to a Dropbox account traced to the defendant.

When officers called at his home, two mobile phones containing images were found in a bedside drawer.

Dropbox accounts had indecent images of children aged from three months to 16 years.

She spoke of hundreds of images and video images being found.

"Some images were described as 'particularly disturbing'.

There was the forcible rape of a very young child," the judge added.

Married Coy, who had no previous convictions and lives in Wenlock Drive, Hucknall, said he used the images for his own sexual gratification and had obtained them in a chat room.
