BRADFORD MAN ASHRAF KHAN DIES IN PRISON AFTER FATHERING CHILDREN THROUGH INCREDIBLE INCESTUAL ABUSE
In a tragic and disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bradford, Ashraf Khan, a man who committed heinous acts of incest by fathering three children with his own daughter, has died in prison just 48 days after being sentenced to four and a half years behind bars.Khan passed away on Sunday after undergoing surgery, according to a statement from the Prison Service.
Details of his death emerged when a Prison Service spokesperson confirmed that Ashraf Khan died in the healthcare unit of HMP Leeds on September 9, 2018.
His death came shortly after his conviction, which was the culmination of a long and complex investigation into his criminal conduct.
The case against Khan, who was 81 years old at the time of sentencing, was brought to light after a series of revelations that spanned decades.
The shocking truth was only uncovered in the early 1990s when the woman, his daughter, confided in her husband on her deathbed.
It was during this moment of vulnerability that she disclosed that her father was the biological father of her three children.
Following her confession, her husband took DNA tests to verify the paternity of the children, which confirmed her claims.
Despite this, he chose not to report the matter immediately, opting instead to continue caring for the children as his own, driven by a desire to protect and nurture them.
It was only in 2012 that he finally reported the abuse to West Yorkshire Police, after which Khan was arrested.
At the time of his arrest, Khan was in Pakistan, and he did not return to the United Kingdom until 2016.
During police interviews in September of that year, Khan denied any sexual relations with his daughter, maintaining his innocence despite overwhelming evidence.
The court heard that the children, who were born in Bradford during the 1980s, had suffered various health issues directly linked to their incestuous parentage.
Medical reports indicated that they experienced conditions such as an inability to feel certain types of pain, which led to injuries like burns during their childhood.
These physical ailments compounded the psychological trauma inflicted by their father’s actions.
In a joint victim impact statement, the three children expressed the profound psychological damage they had endured as a result of their father’s abuse.
They also acknowledged the strength and resilience of their mother’s husband, who had shown remarkable fortitude and selflessness throughout the years of suffering.
Khan, who resided at Kirkburn Place, Lidget Green, Bradford, pleaded guilty to three counts of incest just over a month before his trial was scheduled to begin.
His guilty plea spared the court the need for a lengthy trial, but the damage inflicted on his victims remains a stark reminder of the depths of human cruelty.
