ASHLEY MYNOTT SENTENCED IN BALDOCK FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AND VOYEURISM INVOLVING A CHILD
In November 2017, a man from Baldock, Ashley Mynott, was handed a six-month prison sentence after a court found him guilty of engaging in disturbing online and offline sexual misconduct. The court proceedings revealed that Mynott, aged 25 and residing on Weston Way in Baldock, had established a troubling online relationship with a 15-year-old girl, which involved inappropriate conversations and sexual content.Furthermore, Mynott was found guilty of secretly filming a young woman in the shower, an act of voyeurism that spanned over a year. The court heard that these recordings were made using a hidden camera, capturing the victim in the bathroom from June 17, 2015, to November 22, 2016. The disturbing footage was uncovered during a police investigation into Mynott’s electronic devices.
His criminal history includes a previous conviction from September 2016, when he appeared at Cambridge Crown Court and received a community order for making indecent images of a child. As part of that sentence, Mynott was required to attend a Polygraph test at Royston Police Station in December of the previous year. The recent conviction was linked to the results of this test, during which Mynott admitted to having images of a girl on his iPod and to being in contact with a young girl online.
Investigators discovered that Mynott had engaged in explicit conversations with the girl, who was ten years his junior. He encouraged her to perform oral sex on her boyfriend and sent her a photograph of his genitals. In return, he requested a revealing photograph of her breasts, which she provided. Electronic devices belonging to Mynott contained evidence of at least 12 voyeuristic videos, all filmed secretly in the bathroom while the victim showered.
During police interviews, Mynott admitted that he was “obsessed with sex,” a statement that underscored the severity of his actions. The court sentenced him to six months in prison, with the understanding that upon release, he would be placed under supervised probation. Additionally, Mynott was issued a sexual harm prevention order to monitor his internet and computer usage closely. His name will also be added to the sex offenders register for the next seven years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the need for ongoing oversight.
