CHILD ABUSER FILMED GIRLS IN HIS GARDEN IN BRADFORD

A convicted child abuser who filmed two young girls in the garden and front room of his Bradford home could avoid prison next month when he returns to Court to be sentenced.

Arthur Peacock, 55, was said to have suffered "a good beating" when residents in Bankfoot became aware of his activities last July, and his home in Draughton Street was also looted and badly damaged.

Prosecutor Mark Fletton told Bradford Crown Court that officers who attended the area last July were met by a crowd of about 30 people.

"One person handed the officers a camcorder videotape, indicating the crowd was agitated and directing them to an address," he said.

Police officers entered the property, and Peacock admitted to taking pictures of children.

He stated that he had been burgled, and the tape had been taken.

The tape showed two fully dressed girls in Peacock's garden and footage of a girl lying on his sofa watching a cartoon.

Peacock had previously been jailed for nine months for indecent assault against a girl under 14 in 1994.

He admitted to one offence of taking indecent images of children at a hearing before city magistrates, who sent the case to crown court for sentencing.

Judge Gullick noted Peacock's early custody and the nature of the material involved, stating it was a borderline case that did not automatically warrant custody.

Peacock lives in Hampshire, and the case was adjourned until February 25 for assessment for a sex offender treatment programme.

He was granted bail and must register as a sex offender.
