ANTONY JONES CAUGHT IN BLACKPOOL POLICE STING FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENSES
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Blackpool, Antony Jones, a 39-year-old resident of Singleton Street, found himself at the center of a police operation after engaging in illicit online communications.Jones believed he was conversing with a 12-year-old girl, but in reality, he was speaking to an undercover police officer tasked with monitoring online predatory behavior.
Between June 2016 and July 2017, Jones committed a series of serious offenses within the Blackpool area.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent image of a child, with some of these images being classified at the most depraved level of obscenity.
These images depicted highly disturbing and illegal content involving minors.
Furthermore, Jones admitted to attempting to persuade the supposed 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activities.
He also tried to coerce her into watching a third person involved in sexual acts, demonstrating a clear intent to exploit and harm a minor.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Tracy Yates clarified the nature of the case, stating, “He believed the girl he was talking to was aged 12, but it was an undercover police officer.” This highlights the dangerous level of deception and the serious nature of his intentions.
Leisa Stuart, representing Jones, emphasized that her client had no prior criminal record, which may influence sentencing considerations.
Jones was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Preston Crown Court for sentencing on May 6, with District Judge Jane Goodwin presiding over the case.
