BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER ANTHONY PATTISON SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR REPEATED RAPE OF YOUNG GIRLS
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Bradford, a man named Anthony Pattison has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 21 years for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young girls. The sentencing took place at Bradford Crown Court, where the gravity of Pattison’s crimes was laid bare during the proceedings.
Anthony Pattison, aged 39 and residing on Barden Avenue in the Buttershaw area of Bradford, was found guilty of a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years.
The court heard how Pattison systematically bullied, bribed, and manipulated his young victims, forcing them to strip and then subjecting them to repeated acts of sexual violence.
His actions were described as both depraved and predatory, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the girls involved.
When the sentence was handed down, Pattison was seen in the dock, visibly distressed.
He put his head in his hands and wept as Judge Peter Hunt delivered the verdict.
The judge labeled him an Offender of Particular Concern, emphasizing that Pattison may have to serve the entire 21-year term behind bars.
He was also informed that he cannot be considered for early release before serving at least half of his sentence, and only if the Parole Board approves his release.
During the trial, the jury convicted Pattison on 16 counts, including 12 counts of rape, two charges of sexual assault, and two counts of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child.
The verdict was reached by a majority of 10-2.
The evidence presented painted a disturbing picture of Pattison’s conduct, which spanned several years and involved multiple addresses in the Shipley and Little Horton areas of Bradford.
Prosecutor Soheil Khan detailed the horrific experiences of the first victim, who was only seven or eight years old when Pattison began abusing her.
During one assault, Pattison reportedly covered her nose and mouth to silence her cries, leaving her gasping for breath.
The girl, now in her mid-teens, recounted how she cried and struggled to breathe during these assaults.
She described being abused on numerous occasions, with some incidents taking place in locked rooms, and others involving physical violence, such as a slap across the face that left a visible handprint.
The girl shared her emotional pain, revealing that she often went to bed crying and wished she wouldn’t wake up.
The second victim, a younger girl, also suffered abuse at Pattison’s hands.
She described how she screamed in pain during the assaults and was bribed with money to keep silent.
Her distress was compounded when she confided in a schoolmate about what had happened, leading to the intervention of a teacher.
The judge noted that Pattison’s treatment of this girl was particularly callous, as he used vulgar language and made disturbing comments, including expressing a desire for her to conceive his child when she was around ten or eleven years old.
Judge Hunt condemned Pattison’s actions as “gross sexual misbehaviour,” emphasizing that the abuse began when the first girl was just a child and continued over a period of five years.
The judge described Pattison’s conduct as “coercive and bullying,” highlighting how he used both physical violence and manipulation to control his victims.
The court heard how Pattison’s behavior was not only predatory but also deeply corrupt, leaving scars that would last a lifetime.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order with no time limit, aiming to prevent Pattison from reoffending in the future.
The case has left a lasting mark on the community of Bradford, raising awareness about the importance of protecting vulnerable children from such depraved individuals.
