ANTHONY NASH FROM BINGLEY SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO YOUNG GIRLS IN BRADFORD

In May 2014, a 49-year-old man from Bingley, Anthony Nash, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of six historic sexual offences involving two young girls, one of whom was only eight years old at the time.

Nash, residing on Oakworth Road in Bingley, was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, and one count of attempted sexual assault. The offences on the girls, aged between eight and 12 during the times they occurred, took place between 1995 and 2002, as heard in Bradford Crown Court.

Additionally, Nash was ordered to comply with a sexual offences prevention order, which requires him to be supervised by an adult during any contact with girls under 16. He is also to remain on the Sexual Offenders’ Register indefinitely.

During sentencing, Judge David Hatton QC stated, “You had no thought or concern about the effects such conduct would have on the minds of your victims. The fact is, it had a very considerable effect on their minds. They each kept these matters locked away for many years, for fear of causing pain to others. They should not believe that they were instrumental in causing that heartbreaking pain. They were not, you were.”

Following the case, Detective Constable Ellen Allen from the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit commented, “Nash took advantage of his victims’ young ages, one of whom was just eight when she was abused, to carry out these sexual assaults. We welcome the sentence handed down today, and hope it will help to give the victims some closure. We also hope it encourages others to come forward and contact the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit, whose team of specially trained officers investigates every report of sexual abuse, no matter how historic, with the aim of securing a conviction.”
