ANTHONY HOEY SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN BIRMINGHAM
A man named Anthony Hoey has been handed a life sentence in prison after being convicted of the murder of his partner, Frances Dwyer, at her residence in Birmingham. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of March 30th, when Hoey carried out a violent attack on Frances at her home located in the Tile Cross area.According to reports, Hoey inflicted more than a dozen stab wounds upon Frances, leading to her death. Following the assault, he fled the scene in her car, which had been reported stolen just a week prior to the incident. His escape was short-lived, as traffic officers managed to intercept the vehicle after it was stopped through a police sting operation. During the pursuit, Hoey was detained after being Tasered by officers. He had falsely claimed to be armed with a gun, a claim that was later proven to be untrue.
After his arrest, police officers returned to Frances' home, where they discovered her lifeless body. The investigation revealed the extent of the violence inflicted upon her, and the case moved swiftly through the judicial system. On February 6th, Hoey pleaded guilty to the charges of murder, as well as to two counts of theft, including aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.
On March 5th, the court sentenced Hoey to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 21 years before he becomes eligible for parole. The sentencing brought some measure of closure to Frances' family, who issued a heartfelt tribute expressing their grief and resilience. They stated, “No amount of time will be justice for what happened to our mom and daughter. It’s almost a year since that monster took her life and it still hurts us every single day.”
They continued, “We finally have some closure today, as we see that man be sentenced. We can finally grieve in peace without the stress of court dates and what’s going to happen. As a family, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us through this terrible time.”
In their message to Frances, they added, “A message to our beautiful mother and daughter in heaven. You are always in our hearts and thought about every single day. A piece of us will always be missing, but we know you’re watching over us and keeping us safe.”
