ANTHONY ALLEN CAUGHT IN WREXHAM TRYING TO MEET 13-YEAR-OLD AFTER GROOMING IN SHROPSHIRE
A man identified as Anthony Allen, aged 30 and residing in Cae Daniel, Rhosllanerchrugog, has been sentenced to prison after a disturbing incident involving attempts to meet a minor for sexual activity.The offences took place in 2018 when Allen was living in Whitchurch, Shropshire, and involved a calculated effort to groom a young girl over social media platforms.
According to the prosecution, Allen was eventually confronted by members of the paedophile hunting group known as 'Decoy Central' outside an Indian restaurant in Whitchurch.
The confrontation occurred as Allen was reportedly expecting to meet a 13-year-old girl named 'Ruby.' The sting operation was part of ongoing efforts by vigilant groups to catch individuals attempting to engage in illegal sexual activities with minors.
Allen pleaded guilty to four separate charges, which included attempting to communicate sexually with a child, trying to facilitate or arrange a child sex offence, and two counts of attempting to incite or cause a child to engage in sexual activity.
The court heard that Allen had initiated contact through a social media app, sending an unsolicited message at 1:53 a.m.
on August 7, 2018, to a dormant profile believed to belong to the minor, 'Ruby.' During the exchange, the adult woman behind the profile responded immediately, revealing her age as 13.
Allen responded by claiming he was 24 years old.
Further into the conversation, Allen requested a photograph of the girl and, after receiving one, commented that she was 'cute.' These actions demonstrated a clear intent to pursue a sexual relationship with a minor, which led to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
Authorities and community members in Wrexham and the surrounding areas continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and the ongoing fight against online grooming and child exploitation.
