ANDREW SELLEN SENTENCED IN BLACKPOOL FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
In February 2019, Andrew Sellen, aged 37, was sentenced to more than two years in jail for the indecent assault of a teenage girl.Sellen pleaded guilty to nine counts of indecent assault and gross indecency during a court appearance at Preston Crown Court in November of the previous year.
Today, Thursday, February 7th, he received a total sentence of 29 months and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade.
The offences took place between 2002 and 2004 in Blackpool, when the victim was just 13 and 14 years old; Sellen was 19 at the time.
He was subsequently arrested and charged after returning from France last August, following the issuance of a European Arrest Warrant by police.
Police, investigating the disappearance and murder of Charlene Downes in Blackpool in 2003, apprehended Sellen.
However, authorities have stated there is no indication that his crimes are directly linked to her case.
Charlene was last seen in Blackpool on Saturday, November 1st, 2003, when she was only 14 years old.
Despite a £100,000 reward offered for information leading to her suspected killer or the recovery of her body, no one has been convicted or brought to justice in her case.
