DONCASTER MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION
A Doncaster woman was subjected to a series of violent and controlling assaults by 36-year-old Andrew Roache. He violently grabbed his terrified victim by the throat, strangled her, and punched her multiple times.
Her fear was so intense that she responded by biting his nose in an attempt to make him stop.
Roache then forced her into his vehicle and drove her to a roadside location, where he pulled her out by her hair.
Onlookers who witnessed the incident attempted to help, but Roache threatened them with a machete, warning them not to interfere.
Police officers later detained Roache and placed him under arrest.
The woman explained to officers from South Yorkshire Police how she was constantly afraid of him, revealing he had been strangling her regularly over a long period.
Authorities reviewed extensive CCTV footage capturing Roache’s vicious assaults.
He pleaded guilty in Sheffield Crown Court on January 3 to offences including controlling and coercive behavior, non-fatal strangulation, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm.
On February 22, Roache, whose address was unconfirmed, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and ordered to stay away from the victim with a five-year restraining order.
PC Alex Latham commented: “Roache is a dangerous individual responsible for brutal violence and frightening abuse, leaving his victim terrified.
He also threatened members of the public who tried to help her with violence.
I want to recognize the victim’s bravery in coming forward, which secured a well-deserved prison sentence.
This case demonstrates our commitment to tackling violent crimes and protecting victims from further harm.”
