BRADFORD CHILD RAPIST ANDREW QUANTRILL SENTENCED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL ABUSE OF NINE-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the community of Bradford, Andrew Quantrill, a 39-year-old man from Fenwick Drive, Woodside, has been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a nine-year-old girl.

The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several months, culminating in a sentencing that reflects the severity of his actions.

Quantrill pleaded guilty to four charges of raping the young girl, with the incidents occurring between August of the previous year and January 19.

The court was informed that the victim believed the acts to be part of a game, but she also expressed feelings of unease and concern about the situation.

Her distress became evident when she confided in friends and teachers at her school, prompting an investigation that uncovered the extent of Quantrill’s misconduct.

During the investigation, authorities executed a search of Quantrill’s residence, where they discovered a laptop containing more than 20 indecent images of children.

This evidence further implicated him in the exploitation of minors.

It was also revealed that in 2006, Quantrill had been cautioned for possessing indecent images of children, indicating a troubling pattern of behavior.

The court heard that Quantrill’s actions were driven by manipulative and predatory tendencies, with a probation report describing him as willing to take significant risks to satisfy his sexual urges.

The report concluded that he posed a high risk of causing further harm, especially to children, through additional serious sexual offenses.

Prosecutor Jonathan Sharp detailed the impact on the young victim, noting that she now suffers from anxiety, has engaged in self-harm by scratching herself to the point of bleeding, and has experienced academic difficulties, leading to her being dropped down a set at school.

She is currently awaiting counseling to help her cope with the trauma inflicted upon her.

Judge Jonathan Rose condemned Quantrill’s actions as “wicked and evil,” emphasizing the gravity of his crimes.

The judge pointed out that the use of cocaine during the offenses was an aggravating factor, suggesting it was intended to enhance his sexual pleasure.

While physical harm was minimal, the psychological damage inflicted on the young girl was deemed profoundly significant.

Representing Quantrill, solicitor Ian Hudson acknowledged his client’s acceptance of guilt and the humiliation and damage caused.

He noted that Quantrill had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, thereby sparing the victim from the ordeal of giving evidence in court.

Ultimately, Judge Rose sentenced Quantrill to 12 years in prison, with an extended license period of six years.

The sentence includes a minimum term of two-thirds of the custodial period before eligibility for parole, contingent upon the Parole Board’s assessment of public safety.

The judge made it clear that Quantrill would only be released once authorities are satisfied that he no longer poses a threat to children.

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Helen Riley of the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit expressed her condemnation of the crimes, describing them as “without conscience and of the utmost depravity.” She praised the bravery of the young victim in reporting the offenses and expressed hope that the sentence would help her begin to recover and move forward with her life.
