BRADFORD PIANO TEACHER ANDREW PEARSON SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR ABUSING YOUNG GIRL
In August 2013, a deeply disturbing case unfolded in Bradford involving Andrew Pearson, a piano instructor who was convicted of heinous crimes against a young girl pupil.Pearson, aged 37 and residing on Bronte Old Road in Thornton, Bradford, was found guilty of multiple counts of child rape and sexual abuse after a lengthy trial at Bradford Crown Court.
Throughout the proceedings, Pearson maintained an impassive demeanor as the jury delivered their verdict, which included convictions on eight counts of child rape and six counts of sexual abuse.
He was acquitted of one additional charge of sexual assault.
The judge presiding over the case, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, described the evidence as among the most compelling he had encountered, emphasizing the severity and depravity of the crimes committed.
The victim, a young girl, provided a heartbreaking statement read aloud in court, expressing her ongoing struggle with the trauma inflicted upon her.
She stated, “I just want to be able to forget, but I don’t think I will be able to do that.” Her words underscored the lasting impact of Pearson’s actions.
Andrew Pearson was employed as an account manager for Yorkshire Water, and in court, he was portrayed as a talented musician, having achieved Grade Seven standard.
Despite his outward appearance of respectability and his seemingly exemplary character, the court revealed a disturbing secret: Pearson harbored a deep-seated obsession with pornography and sexual fetishes involving underage girls.
Evidence presented included the discovery of approximately 74,000 pornographic images and 5,000 videos on his computers, depicting young women engaged in a variety of disturbing activities at the hands of older men.
Further details revealed Pearson’s specific fetish for soiled ladies’ underwear.
His estranged wife had found a pair of small pink knickers in his drawer, along with a memory stick containing illicit material.
The court noted that Pearson’s grooming of the young girl involved showing her pornography, manipulating her into stripping, and abusing her both in the music room and her bedroom.
The abuse was described as prolonged, detailed, and repeated, with the girl unable to comprehend the full extent of what was happening due to her age and fear.
Judge Durham Hall condemned Pearson’s actions, describing him as a wicked man who exploited the trust placed in him by the girl’s family.
The judge emphasized the manipulative and predatory nature of Pearson’s conduct, which caused irreparable harm to the victim.
The court highlighted the profound and lifelong scars left on her, acknowledging the devastating impact of the abuse.
As a result of his crimes, Pearson was sentenced to a 22-year extended sentence, comprising 18 years of imprisonment and four years on licence.
The victim’s family expressed their relief and gratitude to the Crown Prosecution Service and police for their support during this difficult time, stating, “We are grateful to the CPS and the police for their help and support throughout this terrible time.
We are relieved that these truly horrific crimes have been recognised.” PC Naomi Brown, the officer involved in the case, praised the victim’s bravery and encouraged others who have suffered similar abuse to come forward.
She remarked, “I would like to thank the victim for her bravery and courage in coming forward to report such heinous crimes.
This sentence correctly reflects the seriousness of what Pearson did to this vulnerable child.
I would encourage other victims of such crimes to come forward and report these offences.”
