September 2018 Manchester DJ convicted of possession of indecent image of children A nightclub DJ has avoided prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children. Andrew Lees, aged 53 of Clarendon Crescent, Sale appeared at Manchester Crown Court where faced charges of: Downloading indecent images of children  Sexual activity with a female child aged under 13 Lees denied the sexual activity with a child charge but admitted the indecent images. A trial was held.  The jury could not give a majority decision and felt that there was not enough evidence to convict him of the sexual activity with a child charge. The court was told that Lees was a well known DJ on the Manchester music scene in the 1990’s. He was a resident DJ at the popular Acid Rock at the Phoenix Club The judge handed Lees a three year community order  Lees was told that he must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for five years and that he would have to register as a sex offender for five years.
