SHOCKING: JAMES GEERING FROM SALE CAUGHT WITH OVER 3,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AT MINSHULL STREET COURT

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Sale community, James Geering, a 22-year-old man residing on Marsland Road, was formally sentenced for possessing an alarming collection of indecent images of children. The proceedings took place at Minshull Street Crown Court, where Geering appeared yesterday after previously admitting guilt at Trafford Magistrates Court on May 10.

Geering faced multiple serious charges, including four counts related to the making and possession of indecent images, as well as a charge of distributing such images. The court was informed that police executed a search warrant at Geering’s residence in February of the previous year. During this search, authorities seized a laptop and a mobile phone, which became crucial pieces of evidence in the case.

Upon examination of these devices, officers uncovered a staggering total of 3,143 indecent images of children. Of these, 716 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of indecency. Further investigation revealed that Geering had registered on a Russian website dedicated to exchanging indecent images of minors. Search terms such as ‘boys,’ ‘kids,’ ‘nudes,’ and ‘preteens’ were used by him to facilitate this activity.

During police interviews, Geering admitted to posting six images of boys aged between 10 and 12 years old on the site. He also acknowledged inviting other users to view these images, which highlights the extent of his involvement in the distribution of such material. Nicoletta Amatino, the prosecutor, stated that Geering had been sexually interested in children since he was 14 years old. Despite recognizing that his interests were wrong, she noted that he believed it was merely a phase and that he did not seek help during police bail.

Defense lawyer David Morton emphasized that Geering was taking his situation seriously and was not attempting to dismiss his actions. He expressed hope that his client was genuinely seeking to change and move past this dark chapter of his life.

Before sentencing, Judge Timothy Mort addressed Geering directly, expressing his horror and condemnation of the offense. The judge described the acts as “abhorrent” and underscored the devastating impact on the victims. He explained that every image represented a child who had been forced into abuse, with their suffering forever captured on the internet. The judge highlighted that these children are forever damaged and that their ability to form normal relationships is severely hindered.

Judge Mort further advised Geering that he needs professional help and urged him to show his true qualities if he is to genuinely reform. He warned that if Geering fails to change, he will have squandered his second chance. As a result, Geering was sentenced to a two-year community order, which includes 60 days of rehabilitation. Additionally, he was issued a five-year sexual prevention order, placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years, and his laptop and mobile phone are to be destroyed to prevent further misuse of evidence.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable victims from such heinous crimes.
