YORK SEX OFFENDER ANDREW BULMER JAILED FOR ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITS
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the city of York, Andrew Keith Bulmer, aged 35, has been sentenced to prison for heinous online crimes involving the exploitation of a minor’s identity.Bulmer, a resident of Milan House on Eboracum Way in York, orchestrated a disturbing scheme where he impersonated a schoolgirl, using her personal photographs sourced from Facebook to facilitate his illicit activities.
According to prosecutor Anthony Moore, Bulmer’s actions extended beyond mere impersonation.
He engaged in the distribution of an obscene video depicting a second child, which he sent to other men over the internet.
These men, in turn, responded with indecent images of children, further perpetuating the cycle of abuse.
Bulmer’s online conduct included sexual conversations and fantasies with multiple men, all while masquerading as a young girl.
The court heard that Bulmer’s motivations were driven by his own sexual gratification, with Judge Andrew Stubbs QC emphasizing the serious impact of his actions.
The judge remarked, “I take into account the serious effect it has had upon her (the girl whose identity was stolen).
Her mother has quite rightly said this is not a victimless crime.” Bulmer pleaded guilty to several charges, including the possession of five extreme images of children, the distribution of an obscene video involving a child subjected to an extreme sexual act, and the creation and dissemination of an indecent video of a child.
As a result, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
His criminal history includes a previous conviction from 2012, where he received a 12-month suspended sentence for sexually assaulting a woman.
More recently, in a trial held last month, Bulmer was acquitted of sexually assaulting another woman.
Despite this, he remains under strict legal restrictions, including a ten-year sexual harm prevention order that prohibits any contact with the victim and limits his access to the internet.
Furthermore, Bulmer has been placed on the sex offenders register for the second time, reflecting the severity of his offenses.
Prosecutor Moore highlighted that Bulmer had contacted other men who were subsequently charged with grooming children for sexual activities, falsely pretending to be an underage girl seeking sex.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns about online child exploitation and the dangers posed by individuals like Bulmer operating within the digital space.
