ANDREW BLAKE CONWY SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF ABUSE IN NORTH WALES
A courageous survivor has publicly expressed her gratitude towards law enforcement and criminal justice agencies after her long-awaited justice was served, resulting in the imprisonment of her abuser after nearly four decades.The individual at the center of this case, Andrew Blake, was responsible for a series of heinous sexual assaults spanning from the 1980s into the 1990s.
The abuse began when the victim was only nine years old, with Blake, then a teenager, perpetrating these acts against her during that period.
Despite the passage of many years, the survivor chose to speak out publicly in 2020, revealing the profound and lasting trauma inflicted upon her by Blake’s actions.
Her decision to break her silence was a significant step in seeking justice and raising awareness about the long-term effects of childhood abuse.
Following her disclosure, the police’s Safeguarding Department launched a thorough investigation into the allegations.
As part of the process, Blake, who was 52 years old at the time, voluntarily attended a police station for questioning.
During this initial interview, he admitted to two instances of sexual abuse, but the investigation did not end there.
Authorities continued their inquiries, uncovering further evidence that led to additional charges.
In 2022, Blake was formally charged with a total of 16 counts of indecent assault.
These charges were particularly significant because the offenses occurred before the enactment of the Sexual Offences Act in 2003, which modernized the legal framework surrounding such crimes.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Blake maintained his innocence and denied the allegations against him.
However, in February of this year, a jury at Newcastle Crown Court carefully examined the evidence presented and reached a unanimous verdict.
The jury found Blake guilty of all 16 charges, dismissing his denials and confirming his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
On Thursday, May 30, Blake, who resides at Parc Pentywyn, Deganwy, in Conwy, Wales, was sentenced to three years in prison for his crimes.
The court also imposed additional measures to ensure public safety and justice.
Blake will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities moving forward.
Furthermore, the victim will benefit from a lifelong restraining order, which prevents Blake from making any contact with her and provides her with ongoing protection.
This case highlights the importance of perseverance in seeking justice for victims of childhood sexual abuse and demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies in Conwy and North Wales to hold offenders accountable, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes occurred.
