ANDRE NETHERSOLE FROM BROUGHTON SENTENCED IN MILTON KEYNES FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRLS

In March 2017, a significant case involving sexual misconduct came to light in Milton Keynes, leading to the conviction and imprisonment of Andre Nethersole, a restaurant owner based in Broughton. The case was built on compelling evidence, including a covert recording made by the mother of one of the victims, which played a crucial role in securing the conviction.

According to reports, the mother of a 15-year-old girl secretly recorded a conversation with Nethersole, during which he made inappropriate and sexually suggestive remarks. The transcript of this recording was presented to the jury, revealing how the woman persistently questioned Nethersole until he finally admitted to inappropriate behavior. This evidence proved pivotal in the trial, which took place at Aylesbury Crown Court.

The mother, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, expressed her belief in the importance of such recordings. She stated, "I would definitely recommend it and keeping a calm head. Going all blazing doesn’t always get you the right results." She also emphasized the value of having a recording, saying, "Have a recording, you never know if it can be used or not."

Prior to the trial, Nethersole was found guilty of multiple charges, including sexually assaulting one 15-year-old girl, inciting her to perform a sex act, and showing a sexually explicit photograph to another 15-year-old girl. The court heard how Nethersole made a series of sexual remarks to both girls, with one comment being, "The more I can’t have you, the more I want you."

Judge Catherine Tulk sentenced Nethersole to three years and nine months in prison. In her remarks, she highlighted Nethersole’s awareness of the girls’ ages and his apparent lack of remorse. She stated, "You were clearly fully aware of the girls’ ages. You have shown no victim empathy or remorse — giving no thought to how your behaviour has affected your victims."

One of the victims provided an impact statement, describing her experience as a "year of hell" following the offences, which occurred between 17 and 20 May of the previous year. The emotional toll on the girls was evident during the proceedings.

It was also revealed that Nethersole is a father and owns the Eagles Jerk Restaurant and Grill located in the Eaglestone area of Milton Keynes. As part of his sentence, he was issued a five-year restraining order, which prohibits him from making any contact—either directly or indirectly—with the victims. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the role of covert recordings in bringing offenders to justice in cases involving minors.
