STEVEN JONES FROM BROUGHTON FACES CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MOLD COURT

In May 2018, a man from Broughton, identified as Steven Benjamin Jones, aged 34, faced serious allegations related to child sexual offences.

Jones, residing on Chester Road in Broughton, appeared before Mold Crown Court to admit to multiple charges connected to attempts to exploit a minor over the internet.

During the court proceedings, Jones pleaded guilty to six separate charges.

The allegations centered around his attempt to induce a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activities through online communication.

It was also alleged that Jones believed he was communicating with a child, but in reality, he was interacting with an adult who was involved in tracing individuals attempting to exploit minors.

Specifically, Jones admitted to five charges that, in October of the previous year, he tried to persuade a girl under 13 to participate in sexual acts.

Additionally, he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to cause her to watch a sexual act.

These actions highlight the disturbing nature of the offences and the serious concerns surrounding online safety and child protection.

Judge Timothy Petts, presiding over the case, decided to rebailed Jones pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

The judge also ordered Jones to register as a sex offender with the police, emphasizing the gravity of the crimes and the importance of monitoring individuals convicted of such offences.

The sentencing is scheduled for next month, during which the court will determine the appropriate punishment for Jones based on the evidence and reports presented.
