AMY TABERN FROM NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS ESCAPES PRISON AFTER GROOMING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN STUNNING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Newton-le-Willows, Amy Louise Tabern, aged 22, has been spared a prison sentence despite her involvement in grooming a 13-year-old girl for sexual activity. The incident came to light after Tabern, residing on Cross Farm Road, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court on May 23 to serious charges involving the sexual communication of a minor and engaging in sexual activity following a meeting and kissing the young victim.

According to court reports, Tabern systematically manipulated and coerced the 13-year-old girl, who was a school student at the time, into engaging in sexual acts. The grooming process was described as deliberate and calculated, with Tabern exerting pressure on the victim to comply. On multiple occasions, she resorted to threats in an attempt to silence the girl and prevent her from revealing the abuse.

Despite the intimidation tactics, the victim found the courage to speak out, leading to Tabern’s arrest. During police interviews, Tabern admitted to the offences; however, she was found to have lied repeatedly to friends and family about the true nature of her court appearance. She falsely claimed that she was in court for an incident involving her ex-boyfriend, rather than for her criminal actions involving the young girl.

In the months leading up to her court hearing, Tabern’s behavior towards the victim worsened. She verbally attacked the girl on numerous occasions, calling her a liar and an attention seeker. On one such occasion, she even threw a drink over her. These actions further highlighted her manipulative and aggressive attitude towards the victim.

In sentencing, the judge imposed a series of penalties designed to rehabilitate and restrict Tabern’s movements. She was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and participate in a 60-day rehabilitation program. Additionally, a restraining order was issued, preventing her from contacting the victim for five years. Furthermore, Tabern was mandated to register as a sex offender for the same period, ensuring ongoing monitoring of her activities.

A significant aspect of this case has been the response from the victim’s mother, who resides in St Helens. She has spoken out publicly, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and resources dedicated to female sex offenders. Her daughter’s experience began when she attended a party with her aunt, during which she received explicit messages via Snapchat from Tabern. The mother recounted how her sister discovered the messages and promptly reported them to the police.

Expressing her shock and disappointment, the mother remarked, “My daughter just went to a party with my sister and all of a sudden this woman was sending her explicit messages on Snapchat. My sister saw it and told me. We told the police.” She also expressed her surprise at the gender of the offender, noting that she did not expect a woman to be involved in such conduct, but acknowledged that anyone can be an offender.

She further highlighted the disparity in rehabilitation programs, stating, “On sentencing her, the barrister even said to the judge ‘how is there so many rehabilitation programs for male sex offenders and aimed at them but little to nothing in the UK for female offenders?’” The mother voiced her concern that her daughter has been unfairly branded and made to feel guilty, emphasizing that all offenders, regardless of gender, should have access to appropriate treatment to prevent future harm. She concluded by calling for increased awareness and support systems for female offenders, advocating for more comprehensive rehabilitation options to protect others and address this overlooked issue.
