AMINAN RAHMAN MURDERS WIFE IN EAST LONDON AFTER JEALOUS RAGE AND ONLINE AFFAIR

Aminan Rahman, a 46-year-old resident of London, has been convicted of the brutal murder of his wife, Suma Begum, in East London. The tragic incident unfolded in April 2023 and was brought to light during a detailed court trial that revealed the disturbing circumstances surrounding her death.

According to court proceedings, Rahman strangled Begum during a video call with her boyfriend last April. The court heard that the act of violence was committed in their flat located in Tower Hamlets. After the assault, Rahman reportedly placed Begum’s lifeless body into a suitcase, an act that demonstrated a chilling level of premeditation and brutality. The suitcase, containing her body, was later discovered washed ashore on the River Lea, approximately ten days after her death.

Evidence presented during the trial included CCTV footage showing Rahman leaving his flat with one of their children. The footage captured him dragging the suitcase towards the river, where he then pushed it into the water, effectively disposing of her body. This visual evidence was instrumental in establishing his movements before and after the murder.

Further details revealed that Rahman and Begum had previously lived in Somerset before relocating to East London. The couple shared two children and appeared to be experiencing significant strain in their relationship. It was also disclosed that Begum was involved in an online affair with a man named Shahin Miah, based in the United Arab Emirates, with whom she hoped to build a future. This extramarital relationship appeared to have triggered Rahman’s jealous rage, especially after he learned of her affair.

During the trial, it was disclosed that Rahman had threatened to kill Begum, which added a layer of complexity to the case. Rahman later claimed that he panicked during the incident, and his plea of guilty to preventing the lawful burial of her body was accepted by the court.
