The incident, which occurred in the early 1990s, was only brought to light recently, leading to a conviction that has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond.Pickford, now aged 54 and residing in Westbury, Wiltshire, had initially denied the allegations of rape. However, after a thorough trial at St Albans Crown Court, the jury found him guilty of the crime. The court heard that the victim, who had no prior relationship with Pickford, had gone to sleep in his one-bedroom flat located on the school estate, believing he would be sleeping on a sofa in the living room. Instead, Pickford entered her bedroom and committed the assault.
