ABERDARE MAN ALUN BOHEN CAUGHT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS AT PONTYPRIDD STATION
In December 2018, a disturbing incident unfolded involving a man from Aberdare named Alun Bohen, who was apprehended in a sting operation conducted by dedicated paedophile hunters. The operation revealed alarming details about Bohen's intentions and actions, leading to his subsequent conviction and imprisonment.Alun Bohen, aged 37, appeared before the Crown Court to face charges related to multiple sexual offences. During the court proceedings, it was established that Bohen had actively engaged with an online profile he believed belonged to a 12-year-old child. The communication between Bohen and the profile was filled with a series of sexual messages, clearly indicating his intent to initiate sexual activity with a minor.
The court heard that Bohen had made arrangements to meet the supposed child at Pontypridd train station in June of that year. However, his plans were thwarted when members of the Welsh Child Protectors, a paedophile hunting team, confronted him at the station. These hunters had set up the operation to catch online predators and explained to Bohen that the profile he had been communicating with was actually operated by an adult member of another paedophile hunting group. This individual had created fake profiles of children online specifically to lure and catch individuals like Bohen.
Following his arrest and the evidence presented, the judge sentenced Bohen to a prison term of five years and four months. Additionally, the court mandated that he register as a sex offender, emphasizing the serious nature of his offences. The judge also highlighted that Bohen posed a 'significant danger to children,' underscoring the gravity of his actions and the potential threat he represented to the community.
