February 2016 Gwent paedophile and partner’s appeals dismissed by top judges A GWENT paedophile and his partner deserved to be locked up indefinitely to protect the public, top judges have ruled. Neil Beecham, 53, of Meadow Road, Pontllanfraith, and Nerissa Williams, 51, were jailed at Cardiff Crown Court on January 9, 2012. Beecham was ordered to serve at least six years and Williams, of Yr Hen Ysgol, Trecynon, a minimum of five years before either could even ask to be freed on parole. Police raided the couple’s separate homes in June 2011 and seized computers, cameras, DVDs, videotapes and memory sticks, London’s Appeal Court heard. These contained a collection of indecent images of children – and Beecham had also distributed indecent photos in the UK and abroad. He admitted raping a child under 13, indecency with a child and two counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He also pleaded guilty to possessing and making indecent photos of a child and three counts of distributing them. Beecham had a total of 4,108 indecent images – 76 ranked at level five, the worst level, 865 level four, 696 level three, 237 level two and 2,234 level one – and more than 200 videos. When Judge Neil Bidder QC jailed Beecham indefinitely four years ago, he said the “grave offences” could only have an “incalculable impact” on victims. January 2012 Woman who took pictures of her boyfriend raping a schoolgirl is locked up for 10 year A woman who photographed her ‘dangerous paedophile’ boyfriend raping a 10-year-old schoolgirl has been jailed. Nerissa Williams, 48, took the pictures of 49-year-old Neil Beecham assaulting the young girl, and he then posted the images online for other paedophiles to see, a court was told. The couple previously pleaded guilty to one count of raping a child, two counts of indecency with a child, making indecent images of a child, aiding and abetting making indecent images of a child, three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Beecham also pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing indecent images of children and one count of possessing a total of 4,108 indecent images – 76 level five, the worst level, 865 level four, 696 level three, 237 level two and 2,234 level one – and more than 200 videos. The victim – who is now aged 17 – was in the public gallery yesterday to watch as the pair were led to the cells. Beecham, of Pontllanfraith, Gwent, was jailed for 12 years while Williams, of Trecynon, Aberdare, South Wales, was given a 10-year sentence. The attacks were discovered when police swooped on Beecham’s home after a tip-off, the court was told. Detectives found hundreds of homemade photos and videos that Beecham had taken of his victim. Judge Neil Bidder said the pair had ‘robbed the girl of her childhood innocence’. He said: ‘The girl was raped at the age of 10 by Beecham aided and abetted by Williams who photographed the attack. Beecham then distributed these photographs to like-minded perverted individuals. ‘They would have been distributed on the internet and have potentially been viewed worldwide.’ Cardiff Crown Court heard Beecham had thousands of paedophile images saved on his computer and laptops. Detectives also found logs of perverted chat that Beecham had shared with other paedophiles over the internet. The judge told Beecham: ‘You indicated to other paedophiles if you had young children of your own you would have abused them from a young age. ‘You are a dangerous paedophile and pose a danger to young children, particularly young girls.’ The judge said the sentences were for the ‘public’s protection’ which means they can only be released after a parole board says it is safe. They were both ordered to register as sex offenders for life.
