ALLEN PARR, CROYDON AND EASTBOURNE DJ, JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Croydon and Eastbourne, Allen Parr, a 50-year-old mobile DJ, has been sentenced to a year in prison after being found in possession of an extensive collection of indecent images of children. Parr, a married father of three, admitted to 19 charges related to the creation and possession of these illicit photographs. During his court appearance at Lewes Crown Court, he also asked for the court to consider an additional 15,734 offences linked to the possession of indecent images, which further underscored the severity of his actions.Authorities ordered Parr to register as a sex offender for a decade and imposed a lifelong ban on working with children, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Parr’s residence on Waddon New Road in Croydon was the focus of the investigation, which revealed that he had been involved in this illicit activity for several years. He was well-known in Eastbourne, where he previously resided with his wife in Kings Drive, and had operated Allen Parr Mobile Discotheques for over 30 years, making him a familiar figure in the local entertainment scene.
The court heard that Parr’s collection of illegal images was not limited to internet downloads. It included videos depicting children waiting at a bus stop near his home and children playing on the beach, raising serious concerns about his potential involvement in the exploitation of minors in his community. The images, some of which were downloaded between 1996 and January of the previous year, bore titles referencing very young girls aged four, five, and six. Some of the photographs depicted children involved in sadistic acts or bestiality, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.
Judge Simon Coltart addressed the court, stating, “One only has to look at some of these images to realize the age of the children involved and the suffering and degradation that the making of these pictures puts them through.”
The investigation that led to Parr’s arrest was part of a larger international effort. Detectives in the United States, working on Operation Ore, passed his details to Sussex Police after tracing credit card information used to access illegal internet sites back to him. Following this evidence, police executed a raid on his home, seizing his computer equipment and other electronic devices as part of the ongoing investigation into his activities.
