ALLEN KEMP JAILED IN BIRMINGHAM FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TWO BOYS
In a significant case that has shocked the Birmingham community, Allen Kemp, a 47-year-old charity worker from Northfield, was sentenced to a year in prison for indecent assault. The incident involved two young boys, neither of whom was under the care of the Acorns Children’s Hospice, where Kemp was employed as a driver.
The court proceedings revealed that Kemp was found guilty of one charge related to an assault on a young boy, and he had previously admitted to a similar charge.
The details of the case underscored the gravity of his actions and the breach of trust involved, given his role within a charitable organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children.
During the sentencing, Judge Derek Stanley emphasized the profound impact the assaults had on the victims.
He stated, “I am in no doubt that having to come to court and give evidence has aggravated the damage so far as he is concerned, and you are responsible for it.” The judge’s comments highlighted the emotional and psychological toll inflicted on the victims, as well as the seriousness with which the court viewed Kemp’s offenses.
The case has raised concerns about safeguarding and the importance of vigilance when it comes to individuals working closely with children, especially within charitable and healthcare settings.
Kemp’s conviction and subsequent imprisonment serve as a stark reminder of the need for strict oversight and protective measures to prevent such breaches of trust in the future.
