ALISTAIR KIDD OF HAVERHILL JAILED AFTER CHILD SEX OFFENCE AND ASSAULT NEAR CAMBRIDGESHIRE

In a disturbing incident that unfolded on May 17 of the previous year, Alistair Kidd, a 27-year-old man from Weddell Road in Haverhill, was involved in a violent altercation that resulted in him being jailed. The incident occurred during a routine bike ride along Buckden Road in Brampton, Cambridgeshire, where Kidd was cycling with his girlfriend and her young daughter. According to reports, the child failed to stop her bike, leading to a collision with Kidd, which caused both of them to tumble to the ground.

Witnesses recount that Kidd’s reaction was immediate and aggressive. Enraged by the crash, he threw the girl’s bicycle across the road and shouted profanities into her ear. The situation escalated further when Kidd forcibly picked up the young girl, shook her in anger, and then threw her back onto the ground. A passer-by, witnessing the distress and fearing for the child's safety, intervened by rushing over to restrain Kidd. During this intervention, the passer-by accidentally dislocated Kidd’s shoulder, adding to the chaos of the scene.

Following the incident, police investigations revealed a troubling history of Kidd’s previous offenses. It was uncovered that Kidd had been subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order due to past criminal behavior. Notably, in 2017, Kidd, then a former Scouts leader, was imprisoned after attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, who was in fact an undercover police officer. This prior conviction highlighted Kidd’s pattern of concerning behavior.

Further investigation showed that Kidd had failed to notify authorities about his change of address after moving in with his girlfriend and her daughter in Brampton. He also did not disclose his criminal past to his partner, raising serious concerns about his access to the child. It was found that Kidd had the opportunity for unsupervised contact with the young girl, which posed a significant risk.

During the court proceedings, Kidd, of Weddell Road, Haverhill, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of failing to comply with the notification requirements of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and assault by beating. On January 29, at Cambridge Crown Court, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his actions.

Kidd’s history of offending, combined with his recent violent outburst, has prompted authorities to take stringent measures to prevent further harm.
