ALFRED BROWN AND SHOCKING CRIMES IN CLYDEBANK AND INVERCLYDE

Alfred Brown, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offense, has once again come into the spotlight following the revelation of additional crimes committed over a span of nearly three decades. Previously sentenced in 2020 for abusing a young girl and filming the incident, Brown's heinous activities have now been linked to a series of offences in Inverclyde that took place over a 27-year period.

The details of Brown's latest misconduct emerged during a court hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court, where he was already serving time for his earlier offenses. It was disclosed that his crimes involved the repeated creation and possession of indecent photographs of children. These illicit images were taken and stored at his residence on Farquhar Road in Port Glasgow, with offences dating from November 1993 through December 2020. Investigations suggest that Brown utilized a camcorder during the perpetration of these crimes, capturing graphic images that deeply violate the innocence of young victims.

The scope of his criminal activities extended over an extensive period of 16 years in Largs, where he engaged in similarly disturbing acts involving minors. The court was informed that Brown had used filming equipment to record a young girl, including footage of her while she was sleeping and during moments when he indecently touched her. It was also revealed that he repeatedly coerced the young victim into exposing her underwear, adding to the long list of his offenses.

Brown’s crimes and activities attracted local media attention, especially given his involvement in the local music scene. Known in the community as Alfie Brown, he was a musician who had been featured in the pages of the Telegraph’s sister paper, the Largs News, back in 2011. He was associated with a band called 'The Sharps' and was known in the Clydebank area for his musical pursuits. However, beneath this public persona lay a criminal deeply involved in sexually abusive acts.

The court proceedings further revealed that Brown had previously been sentenced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in August 2020 to an 18-month prison term, backdated to his arrest in March of that year. His sentence included mandatory registration on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses.

During the latest hearing, Sheriff Michael Higgins emphasized the need for additional information before moving forward with sentencing. He requested the prosecution to provide a more detailed account of the facts concerning the offences in Port Glasgow, especially in light of the victim impact statement submitted during the hearing. The sheriff expressed concern over the lack of clarity in the presented narrative, stating, "There is no named individual either in the narrative or in the charges, so I have no way of knowing if this person [who submitted the impact statement] is involved in the charges."

Sheriff Higgins continued the case, indicating that a further opportunity for mitigation and clarification was necessary. The court has scheduled a hearing for December 19 to address these issues, during which Brown’s sentencing will be reconsidered after the prosecution supplies the requested detailed narrative. For now, the case remains ongoing as authorities seek a comprehensive understanding of the full extent of Brown’s disturbing offending history.
