Alexander McAllister

Carrickfergus Sexual Abuser

December 2005 Paedophile asked boy ‘to do a dare’ A PAEDOPHILE currently serving a Ten-year jail term for molesting four young boys was yesterday sentenced 12 months after he admitted indecently assaulting another boy. Belfast Crown Court heard that, in June 2003, 61-year-old Alexander Malcolm McAllister admitted ”numerous” sexual offences. During that investigation, he confessed to molesting ”27 young boys over a 25-year period”. Prosecuting lawyer Amanda Brady told the court that McAllister had given police a list of the christian names of those he had assaulted, including the victim in relation to yesterday’s case, who came forward earlier this year. She said the now-37-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had told police that, during the summer of 1979, McAllister had approached him and a friend at the sea front in Carrickfergus, asking him ”to do a dare for money”. Ms Brady said the first dare was for the boy to ”moon” a passing train but that afterwards, ”he offered more money to do a further dare – to pull his trousers down and lie face down on the ground”, at which point McAllister lay on top of the boy. McAllister, of no fixed address, later pleaded guilty to one charge of indecent assault and one of inciting a child to commit gross indecency between June and September 1979. Defence lawyer Kieron Mallon revealed that McAllister is due for release from jail next May and will then spend a further three years on probation. After handing down the jail term, Judge Lynch ordered McAllister to remain on the police sex offenders’ register for 10 years. July 2003 Ulster today: Self-confessed paedophile given 10 years A SELF-confessed paedophile who preyed on youngsters for nearly two decades was sentenced to 10 years’ jail yesterday and put on the police sex offenders’ register for life. Ordering that Alexander Malcolm McAllister, 58, also serve three years of the sentence on probation after his release, Belfast Crown Court Judge Lord Justice McCollum said ”one can only imagine the misery” which he put his victims through. He said McAllister, who pleaded guilty to 32 charges of indecent assault, buggery and gross indecency with a child, had shown ”an element of conscious planning and preparatory activity”. The charges, dated between January 1972 and October 1988, relate to McAllister abusing four young boys when they were around 10 or 11 years old.
